Brady and Brenda
Right now, Brady and Brenda are separated, living miles apart, and desperately missing each other.
After losing their mother, they were placed in separate group homes. They begged to live together-or with their aunt, who has a safe and loving home waiting for them. But a judge denied both requests without explanation.
Even worse, when the Center for the Rights of Abused Children offered to represent them pro bono, the judge denied them legal representation.
Brady and Brenda are now trapped without an advocate in a system that should protect them. The Center is appealing these rulings, but the state is using delay tactics to drain our resources and forcing us to spend additional funds we didn't anticipate. We need to raise additional funds to be able to say 'yes' to not only Brady and Brenda, but the children, youth, and families needing our support.
This is one of the most critical cases we've ever taken on, and these battles often drag on for years. Our expenses-travel, court hearings, interviews, and legal filings-already total tens of thousands of dollars. But we refuse to walk away. These children deserve better.
We've fought cases like this before-helping children who were abandoned by the system-and we know we can win again. But we must raise $46,700 by October 31 to cover our additional expenses and continue our fight to reunify these siblings.
Please make the most generous gift you can today. Every dollar brings Brady and Brenda one step closer to reuniting-and ensures we can keep fighting for children's rights, no matter how long it takes.
Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and protected. Brady and Brenda are counting on us.
