Phoenix, Ariz. – Gen Justice announced today that it has changed its name to The Center for the Rights of Abused Children. The new name better communicates The Center for Children’s lifesaving work fighting for abused, abandoned, and trafficked children across America. The mission to protect children, change laws and inspire people - to ensure every abused child has a bright future remains the same.
Since 2017, Gen Justice has been advocating for the rights of abused children by strengthening protections to end the violence and advocating for them in court. The pro bono Children’s Law Clinic has handled thousands of cases providing free emergency legal assistance to abused children. Gen Justice’s common-sense reforms have provided attorneys to abused children, expedited the search for relatives, protected missing children in foster care, expanded safe haven laws and opened doors to education and employment. Gen Justice has served more than 500,000 children.
“As fond as I am of ‘Gen Justice’– because of what we have accomplished in the last five years – I know that nostalgia doesn’t serve our children,” said Darcy Olsen, founder and CEO. “Indeed, a name that clearly conveys our mission will open more doors. This improved name is critical to reaching our goal of more than one million children protected across America by 2025.”
